AWARD-WINNING BARTENDER & ENTREPRENEURA shining light in the international cocktail scene, Monica Berg is a bartender, educator, and co-owner of Tayēr & Elementary, #2 in the World’s 50 Best Bars 2022. As our Creative & Artistic Director, the program has been brought to life by Monica’s wealth of industry knowledge and expertise and ensures that we keep bartenders at the heart of everything we do every step of the way.
Dave Broom
Community and Culture ExpertDave Broom was born in Glasgow and has spent the past 33 and a third years writing about alcohol (appropriate for someone who loves music). In his time, he’s been Contributing Editor at Whisky Magazine, Whisky Advocate, and www.scotchwhisky.com. In 2020, he started his own website www.thewhiskymanual.uk He’s written 12 books, the best known being ‘The Way of Whisky: A Journey into Japanese Whisky’, ‘and ‘World Atlas of Whisky’. His next book, ‘A Sense of Place’, examining the role of community, location and sustainability in Scotch whisky is out in September. He has written and presented two films, ‘Cuba In A Bottle’ and the award-winning whisky culture documentary ‘The Amber Light’. He also advises on spirit quality and new product development for a number of international distillers and has taught sensory evaluation on Diageo’s Malt Advocates Course for almost 20 years. A Master of the Quaich, he lives in Hove.

Samantha MacRae
Design and Technology ExpertSplitting her time between Norway and Canada, Sam is the Creative Director of Behind Bars in Oslo. She approaches her work believing in the “beauty within function” – a certain kind of beautiful that functionality creates. Her design aesthetic focuses on materials, simplicity and quality. Some might not appreciate a multi-directional brushed stainless-steel bench, but she does. And so do Behind Bars’ clients. Coming from an architectural background, Sam has brought a multi-facet and collaborative design approach, which has influenced the design direction of the Behind Bars. She has teamed up with some of the best in the industry and is constantly humbled by the people she has the chance to work with.

Jessamine McLellan
I’m Jessamine McLellan, the Academy Lead for the United States. I’m responsible for building the Academy, where great minds in our industry have the resources to become leaders for the next generation. Facilitating this hub for knowledge and community is the greatest job in the world! When I’m not advising on the Academy Board, you can find me thinking up new ways to teach concepts, instructing in our Academy space and helping our commercial teams realize their potential through strategy.
Edward Hansel
My name is Edward Hansel (aka Eddie) and I'm the Academy Operations Manager for Campari America. I coordinate, organize, and co-host all of the live educational activations within our beautiful Campari America headquarters in New York City. I also contribute to the development of educational tools for our teams. I’m passionate about both educating and continuing my own education, while creating opportunities for bartenders through the principles of hospitality.
Anne Louise Marquis
My name is Anne Louise Marquis and I'm the National Portfolio Brand Ambassador for Campari America. I host our monthly internal and industry-facing classes in the Academy on topics including spirits, cocktails, and drinks history and culture. I also develop training tools, implement cocktail development, manage trend spotting, and write our monthly newsletter. My passion is supporting bartenders in turning their curiosity for mixology into a full-time career.
Benny Hurwitz
My name is Benny Hurwitz and I’m the US West Ambassador for Wild Turkey. I assist the Campari Academy with Wild Turkey-specific courses for our industry. I also help develop training modules and cocktail recipes and guides for our teams in the field. I enjoy working with the Academy because it ultimately supports the bar community, which without I wouldn’t be where I am today.
JoAnn Street
My name is JoAnn Street and I’m one of the National Portfolio Ambassadors for the Wild Turkey Distilling Co. I host trainings on a variety of whiskey-related topics, cocktail content and engaging trade and consumer events at the Academy and throughout the US - carrying on the Russell legacy. My passion is to educate and create environments in which all aspects of life feel welcome in the whiskey category.
Bruce Russell
My name is Bruce Russell and I am the National Brand Educator and Private Barrel Lead for the Wild Turkey Distilling Portfolio. I work with the Academy to educate our partners on our portfolio, host trade and consumer events, and build meaningful relationships with trade. I also help run our private barrel program and have a hand in product development on-site at our distillery. My passion is educating on all things Wild Turkey and American Whiskey.
Xavier Herit
My name is Xavier Herit and I am the Grand Marnier Ambassador for the U.S. My role in the Academy is to connect with the industry, by mentoring, inspiring educating bartenders. Because of my past experience working for some of the best bars in NYC, I often lend a hand to create new cocktail recipes that showcase the versatility of Grand Marnier. I love meeting so many great people in my role - I am amazed to see the connection and bonds between everybody, our community is a very small world!
